“VOGLIO IL TUO TESCHIO” MF GALLERY GENOVA: 17 SETTEMBRE- 26 OTTOBRE 2010

It’s untimely to write about this now at its end, but I attended in person…and was having too much fun.
Genoa is a remarkable city with beautiful, sophisticated and kind people. Their gelato beats any in NYC hands down, the espresso mi piace and the cheeses, mmm (not the headcheeses)…
The city is as beautiful as it’s people, with artwork everywhere, even the streets and buildings. I wish it were more like that here. The shopping is FAB. (FAB!!!)

An Italian Newspaper, the Corriere Mercantile, covered the MF Skulls show and chose my painting for the story:

The JC old-timers up the block love that.

Christopher Columbus is from Genoa.

With M&F, opening night @ MF Gallery, Genoa.

The opening was great and successful but it was xtra fun for Martina’s Bday, complete with skull cakes!

Frank, with his piece behind him to the right. Also pieces by Scott Holloway, Drew Maillard and a bunch of other great artists.

It was a great night!

Around Genoa, too many beautiful things to even capture in a week. I had fantastic hosts and couldn’t have asked for anything more! Thanks M&F!

Silvano, who was also in MF show

We went & picked grapes at Viola’s family vinyard in the north. It was amazing.

Headcheese

Ooooh in love with Camogli

Martina graciously lent me her copy of “Hell’s Angel’s” when I couldn’t sleep and for the long travels home through France and Holland.

I really love Holland, I’d like to live there.

Someday.

Saturday nite & it’ll be allright…Opening party @ MF Gallery, Brooklyn 5/22/10

This Saturday, come out & enjoy artwork from diverse artists at the opening night party of “I NEED YOUR SKULL” Artists were asked to create skulls, more on MFGallery.net…. Should be a great time!

My finished submission 😉 It is my first oil painting in a few years. I used some acrylic medium in the under layers for speed drying, which made it a little more difficult in the long run. I used these cool Japanese paints, so the palette is very different than some of the European colors I’ve used with acrylics. I look forward to doing more pieces with these paints, but I really gotta stock up on orderless thinners. I’ve been enjoying all the beautiful flowers in my hood and I guess, spending too much time ’round Chinatown.

Wish I had thought to set up the bulbs & tripod, but it was raining cats & dogs this day, so the pic is dark.
